TLDR Sidebar — Privacy Policy

Last updated June 17, 2026

No server

There is no TLDR Sidebar server. The developer never receives, stores, or accesses your data. Your page content goes directly from your browser to OpenRouter using your own API key, and only when you click Summarize.

What it accesses

The current page's title, URL, and text — read only when you click Summarize — plus your OpenRouter API key, model choice, and custom prompt.

Where data goes

On Summarize, the page text is sent over HTTPS to OpenRouter, authenticated with your key, to generate the summary. Nothing else is transmitted. There are no analytics or trackers.

Storage

Settings (API key, model, prompt) are stored with chrome.storage.local — on your device only, not synced to your Google account. Summaries are cached for the current session and then cleared.

Your control

Nothing runs until you click Summarize. Remove your API key in settings, or uninstall the extension, to delete all stored data.
